Research Skills: Evaluate information

Quick tips

While you are researching, it is important to evaluate the information you are finding to ensure that it is appropriate for you to use. The CRAAP test is a great way to determine the appropriateness of the information you have found. 


C urrency: when was the information published? 
R elevance: does the information actually help answer your question or support your point? 
A uthority: was the information written by someone who is qualified in the field? 
A ccuracy: is the information reliable, truthful, and correct? 
P urpose: why has the information been written?
