How to Write an Essay - Basic Essay Structure in 3 Minutes, wilsonsantosfilm

Quick tips

An essay is a piece of writing about a certain subject that includes an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

  1. Draw up a plan. This should include:
    • The main points you intend to cover in the order you expect to cover them.
    • The evidence you will use to support each of these points.
    • The reference details next to each piece of evidence so you do not lose track of your sources.
  2. All your main points should be supported by evidence, with sources.
  3. The conclusion should not introduce any new information – think of it as a summary of what you have written.
  4. Refer to the guide on paragraphs when writing your body paragraphs.
