The library has an extended licence that allows for the bulk printing of Standards via our third party printing contractor, Fuji Xerox. The library keeps records of these requests for compliance purposes.
To ensure licence compliance, can staff please make sure they go through the proper channels as explained below:
As per licence requirements, staff can charge students for the cost of printing however a profit cannot be made for the department. Students must also be made aware that copies of Standards must be destroyed when they finish that subject.
Please note that Standards will be watermarked with the name and work email address of whoever downloads the original Standard to be copied. The watermark will remain on all printed copies of that Standard.
SAI Global has updated the interface of their website, making it easier to navigate and access the Australian Standards. Please watch the video below for a brief overview of the changes. An updated Help Sheet is coming soon.
SAI Global has updated the way standards can be viewed online.
Details of the changes are explained in the PDFs below. In summary, a DRM (Digital Rights Management) plug-in will need to be installed on Adobe in order for standards to be viewed.
The library is working with ICT to install this plug in on all campus computers and BKI devices.
However, if any students or staff were to try and access standards from SAI Global on their own device, they would first need to install the free plug in.
The link to download it can be found here: FileOpen Client Installers.
You can also find a list of all the other digital readers compatible with DRM besides Abode here: Supported Third Party Viewers.
SAI Global has changed the way Standards are downloaded.
This will mean when downloading a standard users will need to create an account with SAI Global.
Viewing Standards will still be possible without making an account – downloading a Standard will prompt account creation.
To create an account, you will need to provide your full name and an email address in one of the official Bendigo/Kangan formats, e.g.
xxx@students.bendigotafe.edu.au
Personal emails will not work.
Standards will also be watermarked with your name and email address when downloaded.
If you have any further enquireies please contact the library.
Below is a drafted example from SAI Global of how the account creation process will look.
